10 Best Metal Live Performances You Can Watch On YouTube Right Now

3. Metallica (Woodstock, 1999)

Of course Metallica is here! The second and last entry on this list to emanate from Woodstock '99, the set by the self-professed "biggest metal band in the world" is one that welcomes a bit more diversity with their thrash metal. Recorded as the band were near the tail-end of their Load/ReLoad (1996/7) years, it stars not only the classic, acclaimed entries like Master of Puppets, For Whom the Bell Tolls, One and Seek and Destroy, but also some more left-field cuts, including King Nothing, their controversial So What? cover and the criminally under-appreciated Bleeding Me.

Considering some of the songs on this set will most likely never be played again, it's at the very least an interesting ride through metal history, as Metallica mixed old and new in a manner that some will love and others will despise.

But, can we all just agree that James Hetfield's voice is probably the strongest it's ever been during this era?
