10 Best Nu-Metal Albums Of The 90s
5. Soulfly- Soulfly (1998)
Another self-titled entry on the list amplified just how many bands were trying to jump on board the freight train that was nu-metal in the late 90s.
The idea was simple, Max Cavalera of Sevendust fame moved on to form a new band that aimed to penetrate right into the heart of the nu-melalling ranks - if you can’t beat them, join them. The old adage rings true with this album, with Max’s approach to the self-titled album was to brining in pretty much every hot topic artist at the time for a guest spot on the album.
Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit appears on the ridiculously heavy track Bleed, Benji Webbe of the later formed Skindred lends his vocals for Quilombo and Chimo Moreno of Deftones also makes a guest appearance on First Amendment, among others. The eclectic mix of metal-monsters was a fast track way to make an impact - and what an impact it made.
