10 Best Number One Rock Albums Of The 2000s

7. Meteora - Linkin Park

Had Linkin Park's debut album, Hybrid Theory, made it to number one in the US, there is no doubt that it would have troubled the top of this list.

Unfortunately, it only reached number two, but never fear! Their second album was also pretty banging.

Off the back of Hybrid Theory's monumental success, the band put out Meteora some two-and-a-half years later. Though lacking the overall cohesion of their previous effort, their songwriting and performing abilities were still clear for all to see, through tracks like Breaking the Habit, Nobody's Listening, and Faint.

Oh, and there was also the small matter of Numb, which is only one of the biggest crossover rock hits of the 21st Century.

Meteora's meaty tracklist gave Linkin Park their first taste of chart dominance, as it reached number one in April 2003 and reigned there for two weeks. The band would go on to achieve back-to-back chart-toppers until 2014, when their album The Hunting Party achieved their lowest US chart position ever - number three!

Number three! They should have just retired then and there. The shame of it all.
