10 Best One-Hit Wonders In Rock Music History

3. Fire - The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown

Going all the way back to the 1960s now, where rap rock was but a speck in the distance.

Fronted by the eponymous Mr. Brown, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown did not fail to deliver on its name.

The singer gained notoriety for performing with a burning metal helmet on his head. As you can imagine, this resulted in him setting fire to his own hair on more than one occasion.

Flames were a constant theme in Brown's work, as his biggest ever hit was simply called Fire.

Released in 1968, Fire was indisputable hit on both sides of the Atlantic. It topped the UK charts and was only held off the top of the American one by The Beatles and Hey Jude.

Did Paul McCartney ever set himself ablaze whilst singing those Na Na Nas? Didn't think so.

The public then decided that they'd had their fill of insane music and Brown never recreated his runaway success. Maybe he would have stood a better chance if it had taken him less than 20 years to record a second album.

What was he doing?

Probably recovering in a burns unit somewhere.
