10 Best Opening Tracks On Debut Rock Albums

5. Good Times Bad Times - Led Zeppelin (Led Zeppelin)

It's pretty apropos that Led Zeppelin released their first album in the year 1969, as it marked the end of the '60s in a big way.

Gone were the soft lilts about peace, love, and flowers in your hair. They were all swept away by a tidal wave of anger and big guitar sounds.

Led Zep's huge combination of traditional blues riffs and modern amplification technology took the world by storm and the band quickly found themselves as walking gods amongst the rock mortals.

The first thing fans would have heard after buying a copy of that famous Hindenburg-adorned LP was this short but sweet banger - Good Times Bad Times.

In terms of premise, the song is pretty self-explanatory. Robert Plant's character has had some good luck with his lady love, but he's also been down in the dumps.

Backed up in the harmonies by his bandmates and supported by outstanding performances on every instrument, Plant's iconic voice whipped fans up into a frenzy that would last the entire rest of the record.

As far as straight rock songs go, Led Zeppelin pretty much nailed it first time.
