10 Best Posthumous Rock Music Releases

6. Eat A Peach - The Allman Brothers Band

The Allman Brothers Band was actually made up of brothers, which isn't always a given in music. You really think The Righteous Brothers were actually related?

Gregg and Duane Allman started playing together in 1969 and would go on to become one of the biggest bands in the country rock genre. They also established their legacy as a live act, becoming one of the best jam bands ever assembled.

After just two years in the limelight, Duane was killed in a motorcycle accident aged just 24. It was unclear whether or not the rest of the group would carry on without him, but the decision was made to soldier on in his memory.

This led to the release of 1972's Eat a Peach, which was dedicated to Duane.

A double album comprised of studio material and live recordings, the album was just as slick and well-written as anything that had come before it. It also featured an instrumental piece called Little Martha - the only song to be wholly written and performed by Duane.

The band would continue playing in one form or another until 2014, bearing the Allman Brothers name the entire time.
