When Peter Gabriel made his exit from the art-rock favourites, they turned to their drummer to lead them on - a move made all the more impressive given he wasn't even their original sticksman. With his solo career more dedicated to his pop leanings, Collins was able to lead Genesis into a harder-edged extension of their progressive sound - both Mama and Land of Confusion spring to mind as particularly percussive examples.
