10 Best Replacement Singers Of All Time

1. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham - Fleetwood Mac

For most of the '60s, Fleetwood Mac pretty much lived and died on the guitarist/singer that they had at their disposal. Even though Mick Fleetwood and John McVie could play like madmen in the rhythm section, the sonic force of someone like Peter Green or Bob Welsh was what truly solidified their sound going forward. In fact, the switch became so great that they ended up getting two singers for the price of one.

Though the addition of both Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham felt a little unnecessary at first, the amount of push and pull between the two of them made for some of the best music that would come from Fleetwood Mac, with their self titled album giving them their first Top 10 hits with songs like Rhiannon and Say You Love Me. Granted, that was also when all hell was about to break loose.

In the next few years, the Mac became a bit of a walking soap opera, all while pumping out some of the greatest pop rock ever produced from the golden AM rock sheen of Rumors to the weird eccentricities coming from both Buckingham and Nicks on Tusk. Although having Christine McVie in the mix would have worked just as well, it pays to have strength in numbers when it comes to songs like these.
