10 Best Rock Album Closers Ever

3. Won't Get Fooled Again - Who's Next

Originally intended to be used as the final track of Pete Townshend's never-finished "Lifehouse" project, "Won't Get Fooled Again" was instead repurposed to be the final song on The Who's 1971 classic album Who's Next.

On its own, the song is astounding, and is easily one of the strongest and most recognisable songs that the band ever released. However, it works even better as the conclusion to an already brilliant album, as it brings Who's Next to an eruptive final note.

Not only is Pete Townshend's amazing guitar talent on full display here, but his synthesiser playing and potent lyrics dominate the song. As well as Townshend, the rest of the band are also given their moments to shine, showcasing the reason why they were one of the most popular rock bands of the 1960s.

Keith Moon's rapid drum solos are the centre of attention during the build ups towards the song's many crescendos. John Entwistle's bass work is impeccable throughout the entire track, and Roger Daltrey's banshee screams and howling vocals are still just as impressive 50 years later.

"Won't Get Fooled Again" is a brilliant reminder of just how energetic and spectacular The Who can be.
