10 Best Rock Album Closers Of The 2020s (So Far)

1. I Know The End - Phoebe Bridgers (Punisher)

Sad girls and skeleton costume enthusiasts rejoice! Your leader is here!

Phoebe Bridgers took making sad music and turned it into an art form all of its own. Though not the first to talk about depression over an acoustic guitar, the young star has reinvigorated the idea of emo music by fusing it with her Americana/folk style of playing.

Don't think she counts as rock? Listen to this song, then think again.

I Know the End is the full stop on Bridgers' 2020 album Punisher, which solidified her position as one of modern music's new juggernauts. The song itself is a game of two halves, starting off slow and forlorn before becoming something very, very different.

At around the halfway mark, it starts to pick up momentum, like a runaway boulder. Then come the horns, then the electric guitars, before everything descends into a hellish pit of screeching.

I Know the End leaves nothing in the tank. Bridgers throws her everything into its big finale, concluding a masterful album with a cacophony of noise.

The perfect end to a record, the perfect end to a concert, I Know the End is damn near flawless.
