10 Best Rock Album Closers Of The 2020s (So Far)

7. Gigantium - Mastodon (Hushed And Grim)

In late 2021, the undisputed barons of sludge metal, Mastodon, released their eighth studio album, Hushed and Grim, across two discs.

Despite being a double album that clocks in at nearly an hour-and-a-half long, the whole thing is packed with energy and excitement, not letting up until right at the very end.

Speaking of endings, since this is a double album, Hushed and Grim technically has two of them.

The first disc wraps up with Pushing the Tides, which was also released as the record's first single. That nearly made the list, as it's an absolute banger, but is it really an ending if there's a whole other disc left?

Luckily, the song that concludes the second part of the album is just as good, if not better.

Named Gigantium, which is very Mastodon, the track more than lives up to its name. Brann Dailor's weighty vocals add some serious heft to this relentless rocker, which concludes with a blistering guitar solo worthy of the finale for a 90 minute epic.

Gigantium feels like a proper album closer, which is why it got the nod over Pushing the Tide. That and it saves a lot of complaints.
