10 Best Rock Album Music Covers Of The 2000s

8. Riot! - Paramore

Sometimes you don't need an eye-catching picture to make your album stand out.

Paramore, led by undisputed Queen of the Emos Hayley Williams, released their second album in 2007. It was called Riot! You knew they were serious because it had an exclamation mark in the title.

Riot! marked the band's first steps into the mainstream, thanks to songs like crushcrushcrush, That's What You Get, and Misery Business. That last one was a particular hit, even if some of the lyrics did need to be changed at a later date.

The album artwork, overseen by art director Mark Obriski, is straightforward and hyper effective. It's a white background with the album title written all over it in various sizes. The words are all in black, except for the main title, which is displayed in a bright orange. Paramore also sneak their own name onto the cover, the cheeky devils.

Craftily minimalist with a hint of punk rock rebellion to it, the Riot! cover summarises the band without the need for anything fancy. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but these words say more than a thousand pictures ever could.
