10 Best Rock Album Music Covers Of The 2000s

7. A Death-Grip On Yesterday - Atreyu

Rock music is at its best when it's subtle; when it doesn't reveal all of its secrets straight away, allowing listeners to come to their own conclusions on its themes and messages. Equally, it also functions well as a straight-up battering ram.

Metalcore band Atreyu released their third album, A Death-Grip on Yesterday, in 2006. It got fairly middling reviews from the few outlets that actually picked it up, and it also spawned the single Ex's and Oh's, which is a grammatical nightmare. That song was on Guitar Hero II for the Xbox, just to give you a little bit of nostalgia.

Whilst the album's content didn't set the world ablaze, the cover sure did. Well, it set one of its inhabitants ablaze, at least.

Designed by Don Clark, the cover of A Death-Grip on Yesterday is the instantly memorable image of a man standing in the middle of a swamp whilst the top half of him is on fire.

The stoic look on the man's face is completely out of tune with his situation, which just makes the picture all the more compelling. It's just a shame more people didn't buy the album.
