10 Best Rock Albums Of 2020

9. The Ride - Bad Cop Bad Cop

The entire rock scene seems to be suffering from a serious lack of punk rock as of late. With Green Day releasing a passable album this year and Machine Gun Kelly embarrassing himself right out of the gate, it would seem that a lot of bands have forgotten the core foundations that the Ramones and the Clash had set back in the day. Even with some lackluster performances, no other punk act was able to rock nearly as hard as Bad Cop Bad Cop this year.

Signed to Fat Wreck Chords just a while back, these riot grrls have been making some of the wildest rock music ever to be heard in the past few years. Doubling down on the Ride, we see these ladies getting a lot more comfortable in their own skin, honing in on their near-perfect blend of snotty distorted noise and oddly tuneful vocals from Stacey Dee.

From a pure sonic perspective, this feels like the band are picking up where bands like NOFX and Operation Ivy left off back in the day, in an attempt to bring some real guts back into rock and roll. Even if something like Hole turned you off from the riot grrl sound, don't let that dissuade you from something like this. Especially when it rules this much.
