10 Best Rock Albums Of 2020

8. Post Human: Survival Horror - Bring Me the Horizon

It would come as a shock to absolutely no one if Bring Me the Horizon decided to transition into a pop band. Ever since Sempiternal brought in the synthesized beats pretty heavily, BMTH have always toed the line between being a pop rock act with just the subtlest traces of metalcore laced in for good measure. Even so, Post Human was certainly a pleasant surprise.

While it might be cheating to include what amounts to nothing more than an EP, Post Human: Survival Horror feels much more like a statement than an actual musical project. Across its short runtime, BMTH seems to have fully returned to the roots of their sound, with Oli Sykes coming through with some impressive screams on songs like Dear Diary. Even with the change in sound, the band has also taken a huge leap in the lyrical department, with Parasite Eve being one of the bolder indictments on man's reaction to the global health pandemic that is still sweeping the world.

There are also some more outlandish choices like their collaborations with BabyMetal and Amy Lee of Evanesence, each of which are pulled off with flying colors. If this is the kind of stuff that these guys are just throwing together during quarantine, the proper album can't get here fast enough.
