10 Best Rock Albums Of 2021 (So Far)
1. Nowhere Generation - Rise Against
Rise Against were never a band that were known for mixing up their formula all that often. Ever since Siren Song of the Counterculture, you pretty much knew you were in for a scathing criticism of our current society mixed with some of the most road worn punk rock riffs you've ever heard. Nowhere Generation is no exception here, and there isn't a damn thing wrong with that either.
As Tim McIlrath starts to get grey around the temples, he still has the same fire in his soul that wants to speak out against injustice. Considering the amount of material he has to work with over the past few years, this is an album that feels almost cathartic for them to make, almost like these songs were their own forms of weapons against people of authority who were looking to stomp them out.
And it makes sense once you look at what they're fighting against. When you see the amount of people who are willing to identify themselves as part of the nowhere generation, you start to realize just how much work needs to be done to find ourselves on the right side of history. It's not going to be easy, but albums like this remind us that it's still possible. To all of the naysayers, these songs definitely are a cause to be alarmed.
