10 Best Rock Albums Of 2021

9. Delta Kream – The Black Keys

The tenth studio album from the blues rock duo, The Black Keys, is a rolling selection of classic blues covers. Primarily, the record pays homage to an idol of the Keys, Junior Kimbrough, but it also contains songs originally written by guitar veterans, John Lee Hooker and R. L. Burnside.

If you were expecting another explosive rock album from the Ohio band, then you'll be surprised by this record, but you won't be disappointed. The collection of songs is a far more subdued take on blues rock than we've heard from these guys previously, but what it lack in raw energy they make up for in groove.

Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney sit right in the pocket with this album.

After ten years of rocking festivals and stadiums these guys have proven themselves as energetic, mosh inducers. But with this album they've proved themselves as highly skilled blues musicians who have the ability to rein it in and play it cool when needs be.

It really is a case of going back to their roots. This is the sound of the Mississippi Delta, played by two guys who respect and appreciate its musical traditions.
