10 Best Rock Bands With Only Two Members
5. Sleaford Mods
If you're after a band that captures the essence of the British working class and rallies against the elitist government, then Sleaford Mods are the group for you.
Though they started off as a three-piece with Simon Parfrement acting as producer, Sleaford Mods are primarily known as a duo, comprising of vocalist Jason Williamson and the man behind the music, Andrew Fearn.
Williamson had been working on his own spoken word material when he came across Fearn DJing at a club. The two put their brains together, retaining Williamson's cutting insights into austerity-era Britain whilst adding in Fearn's post-punk-influenced minimalist hip-hop beats.
Describing Sleaford Mods as pure rock would be to do them a disservice. Sure, there are no guitar solos or screeching choruses, but so much of the attitudes expressed by Williamson's lyrics are in keeping with the punk scene that he grew up admiring.
Although their music might not be conventionally part of the genre, there is no denying that Sleaford Mods embody so much of the rock 'n' roll spirit, making them impossible to ignore and impossible to leave off this list.
