10 Best Rock Bands With Only Two Members
4. Suicide
Another band who don't sound like conventional rock music (and one who laid the groundwork for the likes of Sleaford Mods) were Suicide, who formed in back in 1970 and were sporadically active up until 2016.
Singer Alan Vega and multi-instrumentalist Martin Rev found a common love in all things unconventional. Vega began by singing and playing guitar and the trumpet, whilst Rev initially stuck to the keyboards and drums. It was a mad combination, but it worked.
Suicide were responsible for many innovations, including introducing synthesisers and drum machines into the world of rock, but their most important contribution was the word "punk", as they were the first band to label themselves with that now-infamous moniker.
Vega and Rev were stalwarts of the underground scene, combining simplistic riffs with Vega's unusual vocal delivery to create something that you couldn't find anywhere else. The wealth of future acts they influenced is embarrassingly impressive, with everyone from Talking Heads and Massive Attack to R.E.M. and Daft Punk citing them as heroes.
Sadly, Vega passed away in 2016, bringing to an end one of the most unparalleled musical careers of all time.
