10 Best Rock Music Album Closers Of The 2000s
4. Come Back - Foo Fighters (One By One)
Foo Fighters allegedly spent a million dollars just making the demos for this album. On the demos! That's insane!
Whilst that may have been a bit excessive, the end result was something very special. One by One, released in 2002, added tracks like All My Life, Low, and Times Like These to the Foos canon, as well as this gem of a final track.
The band went all out when coming up for an ending to One by One, recording a near-eight minute-long raging epic with enough grit and vitriol to remind everyone that Dave Grohl got his start playing grunge music.
Centred around a simple, distorted guitar riff, Come Back doesn't feature many lyrics, but the ones it does have are dark and introspective:
Dead on the inside I've got nothing to prove/Keep me alive and give me something to lose
That dark enough for ya?
The best part is that the song lives up to its own name. It sounds like it ends at the six minute mark, only to literally come back and tear it up for another minute plus!
How many other songs can say that they fulfil their own titles?
