10 Best Rock Music Album Covers Of The 2020s So Far

1. Forgone - In Flames

Swedish metal outfit In Flames have been going strong since 1990 and have pumped out 14 studio albums in that time.

These pioneers of melodic death metal hit their stride as a charting act in the early 2000s and can almost guarantee a high position at home whenever they drop something new.

This was proven when Foregone came out in February 2023. It topped the Swedish charts, as well as those in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. How did it go in America? 110th.

Oh well, can't win 'em all.

Lack of US success to one side, Foregone is a terrfici album. What's also great is its cover, which is about the most metal thing you could possibly think of.

An enormous, spindly creature dominates the artwork, as it reaches out a massive hand towards five glowing figures climbing some nearby stairs. In the background is a desolate landscape; dark and ominous with what appear to be mechanical cogs turning.

This is like something from the pages of a comic book or the grand finale of an epic fantasy movie. Foregone's album artwork sets an extremely high bar for everyone else that's still to come this decade.
