10 Best Rock Music Albums Under Half An Hour Long

9. Back In The USA - MC5

Another inspiration to early punk bands was MC5, a staple of late '60s/early '70s counterculture in America.

Whilst some of their songs don't sound particularly punky, the band's left-wing views and wild live performances definitely laid the groundwork for the genre to flourish later on.

MC5's debut album was actually recorded live. The popularity of Kick Out the Jams was what allowed them to head to the studio for the first time to put together 1970's Back in the USA.

Kicking off with a rapid version of Little Richard's Tutti Frutti, Back in the USA clips along at a manic pace. Most songs are around the two-minute mark, although they somehow manage to stick a four-minute-long track in there!

When all is said and done, the album lasts just 28 minutes and eight seconds, ending with a cover version of the Chuck Berry song that gave it its name.

This record sums up MC5's philosophy to a tee; live life fast and live it hard.
