10 Best Rock Music Albums Under Half An Hour Long
8. Sleater-Kinney - Sleater-Kinney
Riot grrrl favourites Sleater-Kinney have been producing low-fi, feminist-driven punk since their formation back in 1994.
Born out of the bustling Seattle music scene - a great place to be if you liked your music loud and your singing slightly off-key - Sleater-Kinney quickly caught people's attention thanks to their emotional performances and matter-of-fact lyrics.
Their first studio album, which was self-titled, was released in 1995 and scored well amongst critics at the time. Did any of this good press translate to decent sales figures? Not at all, but that's not really the point of riot grrrl music, is it?
At just 22 minutes and 45 seconds, Sleater-Kinney is a breeze to get through. Only two songs go over three minutes, with one track, A Real Man, lasting just over 60 seconds.
The band's records would gradually get longer over time, but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with this debut release. It's a short, sharp burst of power that proved to everyone that three women could be as punk as any group of guys.
Fans of '90s alternative music need to give this one a spin.
