7. Caroline - ThxSoMch
Canadian performer ThxSoMuch (real name Carter De Filippis) has only been around since late 2022.
He broke through with the song Spit in My Face! and has since gone on to achieve quite the following. Although, judging by that song title, probably not with anyone over the age of 40.
In January 2023, ThxSoMuch premiered the music video for the song Caroline. To match the track's dark tone, the video is also super creepy and ambiguous in both its content and in the way it's filmed.
It starts off simple enough, following De Filipps around an isolated field somewhere. However, things take a turn when we discover that he's not alone.
The singer is with a woman, presumably the titular Caroline, who is busy digging a hole in the ground behind him. That never ends well. She is then shown with a gun later on in the video, and it doesn't take a genius to put two and two together.
What really makes this video special is the editing, which is fast and frenetic to add to the tension of the scene. You can never really get a good look at what's going on, which only pushes your imagination further into overdrive.
