10 Best Rock Music Videos Of The 2000s

9. Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus

The early 2000s were an awful time to be a nerdy high schooler.

Ok scratch that - there has never been a good time to be a nerdy high schooler. But the early 2000s were especially rough.

One video that perfectly captured the cringeworthy essence of being a 17 and still into comic books was Wheatus' 2000 opus Teenage Dirtbag.

Aka, the song that launched a thousand Google searches for "Iron Maiden."

The band got a huge name to star in it, as American Pie's Jason Biggs plays the titular hopeless protagonist. Only this time, no pastry items were violated.

That we know of.

Instead, Biggs' character follows the same plight as the subject of the song. He's ignored by his beloved at every turn, whilst dealing with the usual struggles of being a run-of-the-mill loser.

In the end though, he actually gets the girl on prom night... only to discover that the events of the video were all just a dream.

Don't you just hate it when that happens?

A perfect accompaniment to this excellent story song, the video for Teenage Dirtbag helps bring more clarity to one of the year's most iconic tunes.
