10 Best Rock Music Videos Of The 2010s

1. Lazarus - David Bowie

Whilst Rammstein were exploring the history of an entire a country in Deutschland, David Bowie was focusing on his own personal narrative.

We see two different sides to Ziggy Stardust in this video; one where he is still very much alive and well, dancing and writing, and one where he is bedridden, bandages covering his eyes as he waits for death.

Both of these make for compelling images, but it's the context that makes this video really special.

It was released on 7th January 2016. Three days later, Bowie was dead.

The pop icon knew that he was in his final days when he made the video, as doctors had already informed him that his cancer was terminal. So, he made this his final message to world - the dichotomy of a man condemned to death but with so much more to give.

We're all going to die one day, that's the truth, and we can only hope that our deaths come in a way we're happy with.

David Bowie had complete and utter control over his death and this video - the last he ever made - is a part of the Starman's exceptional final chapter.
