10 Best Rock Music Videos Of The 2020s So Far

4. Alkaline - Sleep Token

Ok, we've had some silly fun with Machine Gun Kelly and aliens.

Back to the creepy stuff we go!

The video for British band Sleep Token's 2021 single Alkaline opens on a pretty grim scene.

A person dressed in all black with their face obscured by an emotionless white mask sits in a chair surrounded by what appear to be dead bodies.

Maybe they're just napping?

Probably not.

The rest of the video is pretty simple; a SWAT team enters the building and slowly makes their way towards the room with our scary friend in it. Unfortunately for them, this figure has demonic powers that allows them to control some scary-looking vines.

Oh goody.

Alkaline is so well-paced, playing out like a mini-horror movie as the "good guys" slowly make their way to their own demise. Also, somebody write a script featuring the figure in the chair, because they have franchise potential written all over them.

A relatively straightforward affair, this video is nevertheless bursting with creativity and shows that you don't have to go completely balls-to-the-wall to create something very effectively and very frightening.

Although, some people in aliens masks and a flaming clown wouldn't have gone amiss.
