10 Best Rock Songs For Working Out

9. Bodies - Drowning Pool

Sometimes, it's just about the energy a song brings to the table. And Drowning Pool's Bodies, still their best-known track, has a whole heck of a lot of energy in it.

Bodies just as easily could have been replaced in this list by STEMM's Face the Pain (if you don't know it, that song used to open every UFC Pay Per View), or any number of other loud, heavy, thudding tracks. But Bodies is better known, and if you like the heavier side of rock, you've probably heard it.

Bodies has appeared in everything from WWE shows to commercials, and was even the theme song for ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) from 2006 to 2008, that disastrous era where the WWE tried to pass off a pale imitation as the original. But since this is about the song, we'll forget about that, and just point out that as one-note as Drowning Pool was, it's hard not to groove to this nu-metal staple.

Of course, the track isn't for everyone. What song is? But Bodies was actually used to torture Guantanamo Bay prisoners in the early 2000s, reportedly being paid on repeat for days on end. Oddly, the band took this as a badge of honor, with bassist Stevie Benton responding by telling SPIN magazine that "I take it as an honor to think that perhaps our song could be used to quell another 9/11 attack or something like that.”
