10 Best Rock Songs For Working Out

4. Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart

The second single off Motley Crue's 1989 album Dr. Feelgood remains one of the band's best known tracks. And while technically, it's about Nikki Sixx flat-lining after a drug overdose and being resuscitated, it works perfectly well as a workout track.

Reportedly, Sixx required two shots of adrenaline straight to the heart to revive him, although GN'R drummed Seven Adler, who was present during the incident, disputes this, saying he revived Sixx. Either way, Sixx survived, and inspired his bandmates to pen a song about the experience. Whether the adrenaline shot story is true or not, we're hoping you won't need anything more than the song itself to get the juices flowing.

Let's just be brutally honest here. Motley Crue, with their never-ending retirement tours, hair metal style, and cliche lyrics, have never matched the output or legacy of peers like Guns N' Roses or Metallica. They're firmly a product of the 80s, seemingly always stuck in the 80s.

But hey, what better track to slap on a leotard and work out to? Workout songs don't need to boast deep, meaningful lyrics, or feature cutting edge production. They just need to get you moving. This track back-to-back with Dr. Feelgood itself makes a good one-two punch in the gym.
