10 Best Sequels To Incredible Albums

7. Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager

Kid Cudi re-emerged on his second studio album with the same reflectively-charged emo rap he developed on his first, ‘Man on the Moon: The End of Day’. Once again he comes up against dark subject matter in lyrics like depression, anxiety and loneliness, battling good and evil throughout - topics that weren’t commonly rapped about in 2010.

‘Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager’ is sonically deeper than its predecessor, with Cudi able to score major collaborations with CeeLo Green, Mary J. Blige, St. Vincent and Kanye West. Standout tracks include ‘Erase Me’, in which Cudi reflects on unrequited love, ‘Maniac’, where he raps about embracing the darker parts of his personality, ‘Revofev’, where he tells his younger fans not to stress about the worries they face in day-to-day life, and ‘Ghost!’, on which he ruminates on how his ongoing depression can make him feel deserted in misery. The album was certified platinum and Complex would list it as ‘25 Rap Albums From the Past Decade That Deserve Classic Status’.

Cudi originally spoke of wanting to record ‘Man on the Moon III’ one day, only to change his mind believing the Man on the Moon series belonged to his youth. He held that belief until this year when he dropped a teaser video announcing, “The trilogy continues… soon.”
