10 Best Two Guitar Bands

8. Aerosmith

When Aerosmith burst onto the rock scene out of Boston, it was everything your average rocker could have asked for. The band's mix of blues-rock leads with a relentless sense of rhythm made it impossible to resist the power of songs like "Sweet Emotion" and "Train Kept A-Rollin."

Even if Steven Tyler's charisma is worthy of rock-god status, the way Joe Perry and Brad Whitford interplay with each other sounds like it's coming from another planet. Perry's guitar breaks are so classic that each of his licks on Aerosmith's early works could be the main riff of a song unto itself. Mirroring Perry, Brad Whitford is truly the guitarist's guitarist, as his style is more focused on sophisticated lead lines that are able to stand up alongside greats like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck.

For as much as their styles compliment each other, Perry and Whitford almost seem disassociated with each other while onstage, with Perry gaining the adulation for his "rockstar" persona. However, one listen to an Aerosmith tune will make it easy to pick out which solos belong to each respective guitar god. By giving each other their own space, Perry and Whitford brought the bluesiness of the Rolling Stones and the heaviness of Led Zeppelin to create an unparaelleled rock cacophpony.
