10 Best William DuVall Era Alice In Chains Songs

7. The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here

The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is the title track of the band's 2013 album. On this song we see AiC take aim at religion, the violence it can incite, and the arguably wild beliefs that can often be held by religious groups.

The album itself was more coolly received by fans and critics than its predecessor but the fact remains there are some great tracks on it. This song is a sometimes dizzying experience. The vocals are hazy and haunting even by their own usual standards. The instrumentation is layered featuring a chiming guitar and a powerful bassline. It comes into it's own as we get to the chorus, where Alice wear their modern sludge influence on their sleeve. The chorus lyrics parody some of the beliefs held by individuals in certain religious organisations.

This song is likely to be overlooked in their overall back catalogue due to it being the title track of one of their less beloved offerings. Regardless, the creative chops displayed by Cantrell and company here are hard to ignore.
