10 Biggest Band Blowups In Hard Rock
7. Everyone vs. Alice - Alice Cooper
In the midst of the 60's Flower Generation, Alice Cooper rose to prominence as one of the most shocking acts in rock and roll. From the macabre makeup to the horror-inspired imagery, the entire show was a mix of rock and musical theater that outraged parents the world over. For as much attention as the show got, many probably couldn't even tell that it was a band rather than a solo artist.
At the start of the band's career, they chose the name Alice Cooper based on their experimentation with a Ouija board, but many started to assume that Alice was the name of the lead singer. Now going by the band moniker, Alice Cooper was receiving a great amount of critical and commercial acclaim, leaving the rest of the band to be ignored by the public. Though the band reeled things in on the album Muscle of Love, the dismal success of the record led to the band ditching Alice altogether.
For the first time since his teens, Alice was left without a band, which led him putting the rest of his livelihood into his solo career, where he prospered with the conceptual masterpiece Welcome to My Nightmare. Though the bad blood may have been too much for the band to handle, Alice Cooper was determined to dazzle us with his unholy stage show with or without the help of his friends.
