10 Biggest Band Blowups In Hard Rock

4. Axl Rose - Guns N Roses

Guns N Roses were a blessing from the hard rock gods in the late 80's. Stomping out the rest of the hair metal in LA, these guys combined everything great about classic bands like Aerosmith and injected it with mountains of attitude influenced by punk rock. Though the band were riding high on the strength of Appetite for Destruction, things didn't seem fun anymore once the band started to tour for Use Your Illusion.

While the entire album process ended up being a long-winded mess, the neverending tour cycle saw the band having to cater to the needs of singer Axl Rose. From one gig to the next, the band would go on incredibly late or Rose would just not show up at all. Even when Rose did show up to play, he would put all of the money the band was making into lavish parties thrown backstage.

On a few occasions, the disgruntled crowd got so pissed at the band's refusal to play that they would tear apart the entire venue. After the band got back, Rose's attention to detail became too much for the rest of the band, who slowly made their way out until Rose was the only one left. Though we eventually got Rose's "masterpiece" with Chinese Democracy, that initial magic of Guns N Roses had been snuffed out a long time ago.
