You'd say that now...not necessarily so when the Black Parade was at its peak.

At the time of the knockoff Sgt. Pepper outfits and Queen era bombast, MCR were being put on bills at festivals where they had no business being on. Though it was an honor for them to perform at Reading, they had the unenviable task of having to precede before Slayer, which turned into disaster really quick. While preceding Slayer on a normal night is already questionable, the thrash metal elitists had no problem downplaying the Black Parade, going so far as to throw bottles of piss at them while they performed.

That didn't break their spirit though, with Gerard Way vowing that the next time that they played the festival that they would be headlining it. As MCR plan to crisscross the globe again once the pandemic mellows out, here's hoping that Gerard still has those same ambitious expectations that he set back in 2006.
