10 Biggest Bands That Got Boo'd Off The Stage
6. The Beatles
The entire concept of an act like the Beatles getting boo'd off the stage seems borderline apocryphal in today's society. Given how much excitement they created wherever they went, the Fab Four actually not going over well with an audience feels almost sacrilege in the Church of Rock and Roll. So how do you get boo'd in this scenario? Well, you piss off a different church.
Over the interview tours during the promotion for Revolver, John Lennon's passing remarks about the band being bigger than Jesus got blown way too out of proportion by the media, which turned into a firestorm when they went to the States. Although you still had screaming girls showing up to nearly every stadium tour they played, you had just as many naysayers holding up religious imagery and accusing Lennon of blasphemy, with notes like "Jesus Died For You Too John."
Though Lennon took it on the chin most of the time, it got a little bit dicey in the American South, where someone had the bright idea of letting a firecracker go off in the middle of the set. Since the KKK had already made plans to commit terrorist actions on the show, every Beatle looked around at each other to make sure they hadn't been shot. Even though religious talk can get out of hand, you never need to find yourself in a position where you're fighting for your life.
