10 Biggest Earworms Of All Time

6. Funky Town - Lipps Inc.

The entire disco era remains one of the most hotly contest genres of all time. Though the resurgence of the sounds from the likes of Dua Lipa and Daft Punk have been great for what they are, the people in the know are still trying to figure out whether this was the most commercially excessive genre ever made or a bold new step in the world of funk and dance music. As people still bicker back and forth, one thing remains certain: the invention of Funky Town deserves to be up with the hook-making gods.

While the crux of this tune is a pretty by the numbers pop song, the amount of different memorable parts going on make it impossible to get out of your head once you hear it for the first time. Even though the lyrics themselves aren't exactly anything to write home about, the tight performances all around are enough to cement it in your memory.

For anyone who isn't even that familiar with disco, chances are you can still hum the synth line to this tune without really trying all that hard. People seem to love having it around too, with it popping up in any film soundtrack that will have it. As much as the disco scene might seem grating to some, this was the true peak of just how much you could do with a couple of spare riffs and a great idea.
