10 Biggest-Selling Rock Music Albums Of All Time
2. Back In Black - AC/DC
It's actually kind of hilarious to think about how close AC/DC were to breaking up before Back in Black. Having lost their voice Bon Scott, the idea of actually continuing on without his boozy brashness felt like it was nearly impossible. Like all good comeback stories though, The Young Brothers soldiered on with everything they had and came back even stronger on Back In Black.
With new singer Brian Johnson in tow from his previous band Geordie, every single one of these tracks could be a contender for one of the greatest songs in AC/DC's canon, being as much informed by the death of Bon as they are by their fun loving attitude. Though there are definitely some somber moments on here like the tolling bell that opens the album, fans were really hooked on the kind of sleazy vibe in these songs, like the bar band favorite You Shook Me All Night Long.
Being the hardest rocking album to find its way onto the greatest of all time list, fans have always had this record close to their chest, bringing it up to 25 million copies sold. If you take anything away from this though, just know the road it took to get here. It was a long journey back to the top to rock and roll, but the Young Brothers manage to overcome even death to paint their masterpiece.
