10 Biggest Shows In Rock History
4. Live Aid
I mean, it's pretty obvious, right? It's not like you're going to talk about some of the greatest gigs in music history and not devote some time to Live Aid. However, this one show means so much more to music history than just the money raised for a good cause.
Spanning across two different continents, this concert experience was basically a breeding ground for every kind of rock band, from Ozzy Osbourne gracing the stage on one end to Phil Collins of Genesis playing double duty and taking a plane across the world to play both respective dates. Despite having a bunch of bands in their prime, the greatest parts of these shows were when they served as turning points in certain bands' careers.
For as much as been said about their contemporaries, U2 truly owned the day when they performed, with a staggering rendition of Bad that turned Bono into one of the most awe-inspiring performers in rock music. Then again, it doesn't get much better than Queen's performance, with Freddie Mercury giving a virtual masterclass on how to control an audience and resurging the public's interest in Queen almost single-handedly. Though the money itself may not have mattered, when you have this many people coming together for a cause that can change the world, it's a case where everybody wins.
