10 Biggest Shows In Rock History

3. Big 4 in Sofia

The Clash of the Titans in the '90s always seemed like a harbinger of things to come. While seeing acts like Anthrax, Slayer, and Megadeth sharing a bill was amazing, it was oddly incomplete without the one band that got the ball rolling. Though it took some time to gestate, the Big 4 coming together in Sofia turned into one of the most anticipated moments in metal history.

Given all of the bad blood between the metal camps, it was practically a miracle this even happened at all, with Dave Mustaine's dismissal from Metallica still having a hand in their classic songs. However, each act here brought their A-game to the table, with Joey Belladonna returning to his screaming self in Anthrax as well as Slayer bringing back Dave Lombardo to create some of the most vicious beats ever conceived by man across their set.

The crowning achievement though had to be the end of every night, when Metallica would bring out every member of the Big 4 to perform together, tearing through the NWOBHM classic Am I Evil?. With years of pent up aggression in the rearview, this final merging of bands felt like a celebration of the music thrash was founded upon. Though the stadiums may have been a bit bigger, the Big 4 coming together still manages to take you back to the early days of metal, when you were jamming in your garage and making this explosive music just for the hell of it.
