10 Bizarre Metal Covers Of Classic Songs
7. These Boots - Megadeth
While we're on the topic of easy listening music, it's only a matter of time before we talk about the likes of Frank Sinatra. Though Old Blue Eyes was never really a fan of rock and roll to begin with, some rock stars have tended to adopt his too cool for school mentality, and are even finding an appreciation for some of the jazzier material he spat out back in the day. Though his daughter could hold her own with These Boots are Made for Walking, no one was thinking it needed to receive a good thrashing.
Aside from this one song, Megadeth's debut Killing Is My Business is still one of the greatest thrash albums of its day, hitting the ground running and giving Dave Mustaine a firm footing out of the shadow of Metallica. Then again, you can't take this song seriously from the minute you hear it, with Dave Mustaine pretty much knowing how stupid this probably sounded.
Hell, if you listen to the original vs. the cover, Dave isn't so much singing the lyrics as he is shouting them, as if he's just trying to fit the words in time with the song to make sure he keeps up with the shredding behind everything. Even if you consider yourself a staunch metalhead, this is the kind that you can throw on if only for how ridiculous it sounds in context.
