10 Bizarrely Specific Music Genres You Won't Believe Actually Exist

6. Clownstep

Is this some kind of joke? Well, actually, it turns out it was... originally. It all started when a track called "Bodyrock" by Shimon and Andy C was publicly assaulted; given the name "clownstep" because, obviously, it sounded like dance music for deranged clowns. To be fair, dubstep itself sounds like a llama farting into a megaphone and then adding a swing beat - so when a terrible genre is given further slanderous new genre names, you know it's got to be tragic.

Clownstep took the dubstep scene in an unexpected manner, however. Trolls were dismayed when producers started proudly labelling their own tracks with the term, leading to a surge in the highly unnerving nightmare fuel. Lesson learned: never invent new sub-genres simply to insult other's music; just say it's rubbish, otherwise the world is subjected to stuff like this and it'll all be your fault.
