10 Blatantly Unfinished Rock Albums (That Were Released Anyway)

2. Let It Be - The Beatles

For most of the people growing up in the '60s, there was the utopian dream that the Beatles were going to last forever. Amid the Summer of Love though, the Fab Four were quickly falling apart due to personal differences and their entire business model going belly up after Apple Records folded. So getting back to their roots should have been a good idea, right?

Instead of returning to their love of playing, Let It Be is one of the most halfhearted releases to have the Beatles' name associated with it. For the most part, the Beatles themselves didn't want to release this, since they shelved most of the tapes and went to work on Abbey Road instead. When their contract demanded another album though, this wasn't really produced in the traditional sense. No...these tapes were just put in the hands of Phil Spector and Glyn Johns with the goal being to make something that sounded like a Beatles album.

While you do have some amazing moments on songs like Across the Universe and the title track, there are also random bits of jamming in between the songs, along with tracks like I Me Mine which were stretched out by Spector to make it sound like a full song. Considering how much they changed the musical landscape while they were here, The Fabs really deserved to go out on a better note than this.
