10 Blatantly Unfinished Rock Albums (That Were Released Anyway)
1. Made In Heaven - Queen
By the time Queen finished up Innuendo, it became abundantly clear that Freddie Mercury's days were numbered. After originally being given a death sentence for his AIDS diagnosis during the album The Miracle, it was amazing that we were able to get songs like The Show Must Go On at all. Up until his dying day though, Freddie Mercury was not finished giving his audience what they wanted.
Going into the studio whenever he was fit, Made in Heaven is the result of the band working with everything Freddie made up until his death, which ranged from full songs to table scraps that were left on the cutting room floor. Although the rest of the band certainly bring their A-game to the project, songs like Too Much Love Will Kill You feel more like a reaction to Freddie's passing rather than something they worked on together.
When Freddie does appear though, it leads to some of the most emotional moments in the Queen repertoire, like on Mother Love, which is the last known vocal performance Freddie has, only to be taken over by Brian May when Mercury was unable to complete the song. While there may be other albums that have had to come out unfinished, Made in Heaven still stands as one of the most haunting reminders of the greatest showman of all time giving his all until the end.
