Since the beginning of her career in 1980, Enya's success has been incredible, winning Grammy Awards, selling over eighty-million albums around the world and becoming Ireland's best-selling solo artist. Yet despite all of this, Enya has never once toured. Surprising, isn't it? According to Enya herself, the reason for this is largely necessity. Or at least it was, when she first started. The vocal arrangements on each of her songs is so complex and so labour-intensive that attempting to replicate them live simply wouldn't have been possible. But over thirty years has passed since Enya first began recording music, and technology has improved dramatically. At the close of 2015, Enya released her first album in seven years, Dark Sky Island. Around that time, Enya coyly stated that it would be very, very possible to perform her music on tour for the first time. She described her fondness for wonderful concerts that contain orchestras and choirs, and commented on how it's a different time for performance than it was back in the 80s. On top of that, the singer is set to perform a few new songs live on television in the US. Enya is clearly enamoured by the possibilities of performance these days, and has just released a new album. Opportunity and technology have met Enya will announce her first ever tour in 2016.
