3. Lorde's Comeback Will Be Astronomical
Ever since she dropped her first album Pure Heroine in 2013, the world has been crying out for the Lorde's return. Seriously, for a first time artist, the album did insanely well, being lauded by critics, nominated for a Grammy Award and spawning the extremely successful single Royals. Already the album has been described as a challenge to modern-day pop music and has been cited as a massive inspiration by many popular musicians (including Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, who thought when he first heard Royals this might be another revolution). Since then, anticipation for new music from the New Zealand singer has reached a fever pitch. Not only has Lorde been celebrated in mainstream pop culture (she was praised on a season eighteen episode of South Park titled The Cissy), but the few releases she's been involved with have done massively well. The Disclosure song Magnets that features Lorde, for example, has hit over forty million views on YouTube. Not only that, but the singer recently tweeted that she whispered the title of her second album to her mother, and it caused an absolute media frenzy. It's all but guaranteed that Lorde will drop her second studio album in 2016, as she's been working on it for quite a while and has now officially (though sadly in private) titled it. Such a lengthy break between a pop artist's material is rare, especially for one who has only released a single album. But it's undoubtedly created a massive hunger for new music. The clouds will part in 2016, then, and Lorde's comeback won't be filled with wrath, but a bunch progressive, idiosyncratic radio hits. Expect to hear nothing else at some point in 2016.
