You’d be hard pressed to find a Glam Metal band that’s taken more criticism than Poison over the years. For the most part, this criticism is hugely unjust, with the band producing great songs like Talk Dirty To Me, Nothin’ But a Good Time, and the always reliable ballad Every Rose Has It’s Thorn.

The song that cannot be defended, though, is Unskinny Bop, mainly because the whole song is based around frontman Bret Michaels bragging about the great sex he’s having with a very promiscuous woman.

While this does raise issues of the sexism in the sub-genre, it also raises a fairly horrific mental picture for you to grapple with.

Couple these things with a simply dreadful music video, featuring the aforementioned Michaels, dancing alongside two animated neon cowgirls, and the fact that the phrase "Unskinny Bop" has no meaning, and was just used for phonetics, and you've got one sleazy, lazily-written, footnote in the pages of Metal history.
