10 Cheesiest Glam Metal Songs Ever Written
2. Black Veil Brides - Fallen Angels
It almost seems cliched at this point to rail on Black Veil Brides. Since they broke on the scene in the mid-to-late 2000's, it’s always been the "cool" thing to do among Metal elitists. But as painful as it is to admit, musically, Black Veil Brides are technically sound, especially when it comes to guitar work, so why don't people like them?
Well, it may have something to do with their god-awful lyrics, and this song only stands to prove this point. It seems to be that every word in this travesty is a weak and generic attempt at being "inspirational", and it’s as transparent as the band’s attitude towards originality.
The song manages to force the faux inspiration in wherever it can, with a "take joy in who you are" here, and a few "we only want to be ourselves" there. This makes it blatantly obvious that the song was devised purely to make money from young adolescents and angst-ridden pre-teens, who were going through a rebellious phase.
Obviously this shameless marketing has paid off though, as the album Set the World on Fire, which houses this song, reached #17 in the Billboard album chart, and #3 in the UK Rock album chart, and that is genuinely upsetting.
