10 Cheesiest Music Videos Of The 80s

4. You Make My Dreams - Hall and Oates

When talking about the stars of the AM radio waves in the '70s, there was pretty much a 50/50 chance that those acts would translate well to MTV. Compared to some of the more marketable acts like David Bowie, you weren't going to get anywhere with the Doobie Brothers, if anything because they looked like they were pushing 50 with those mustaches. No, you needed someone photogenic...and Hall and Oates loved the camera...almost to a fault.

During their run in the '80s, most of the Hall and Oates videos are some of the hammiest things to ever come from the channel, but there's a special kind of cheeky that comes with You Make My Dreams Come True. Filming what could have just been a standard performance, both Hall and Oates go the extra mile by acting like musicians who just figured out what a camera is, looking dead stared into the lens and occasionally acting surprised whenever it's time for a close up.

Even the backing band get in on the uncomfortable action, each of them seemingly singing to each other when having a turn on the backing vocals. While you can give this one a pass for being a product of the early days of MTV, even the more exaggerated acts would be telling you to tone things down here.
