3. Seven Tears - The Goombay Dance Band (1981)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8mtV4kTAPU Seven tears have flown into the river Seven tears are running to the sea If one day they reach some distant waters Then you'll know it's sent with love from me This time the cheese factor is good instead of bad, well I think so anyway and so do two other people living in Azerbaijan. This is a terrific fun record to sing along with. I know they are called The Goombay Dance Band, but Seven Tears is not really a song to dance to. It is best kept for the end of the night when everyone is trollied and musical taste goes out the window, then everyone can, without self consciousness, warble along to this fabulous piece of 80s cheese. Altogether now! Oh my darling, oh my pretty lady! Golden star that leads to paradise! Seriously, how can you dismiss a song with such profound lyrics? This Teutonic piece of Stilton is pure 1980s class. I know the vast majority of you will frown upon my fondness for this song but I think it is highly catchy and has a nice sentiment behind it. So ner.
